At Online Electrical, we aim to process and deliver your order as efficiently as possible. This Shipping Policy explains how delivery, shipping charges, lead times, damaged deliveries, failed deliveries and return shipping are handled when you place an order with us.
Please read this policy together with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Return & Refund Policy.
1. Shipping Areas
We deliver throughout South Africa.
If you require delivery to a remote area, large commercial site, farm, mine, industrial location or any address outside a standard courier delivery network, additional delivery charges or lead times may apply. If this is the case, we will contact you before dispatch where possible.
At this stage, orders placed through the website are intended for delivery within South Africa, unless otherwise agreed with us in writing.
2. Order Processing Times
Orders are generally processed during our normal business hours, excluding weekends, public holidays and periods when our warehouse, suppliers or courier partners are closed.
Once payment has cleared and stock availability has been confirmed, orders are typically processed within 1 to 2 business days.
Please note:

Orders placed on weekends or public holidays will be processed on the next business day.

Orders containing multiple items may be delayed if one or more items are out of stock, special-order, or sourced from different suppliers.

Large, bulky, custom, imported or supplier-direct items may require additional processing time.
Where there is an unexpected delay, we will do our best to contact you using the contact details provided at checkout.
3. Delivery Timeframes
Estimated delivery timeframes are as follows:

Gauteng / major metro areas: approximately 1 to 3 business days after dispatch

Outlying areas / regional deliveries: approximately 3 to 5 business days after dispatch

Remote, oversized or special-order items: delivery times may vary depending on product type, supplier availability and courier service area
Delivery timeframes are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Delays may occur due to:
- Supplier stock delays
- Courier operational delays
- Adverse weather conditions
- Public holidays
- High order volumes
- Delivery access restrictions
- Events outside of our reasonable control
4. Shipping Charges
Shipping charges are calculated based on factors such as:
- Delivery location
- Order value
- Weight and dimensions of the parcel
- Type of goods ordered
- Whether the item is oversized, heavy, fragile or long-length
- Courier requirements
Shipping charges, if applicable, will be displayed at checkout or otherwise communicated to you before dispatch.
Any free shipping offers, special delivery promotions or location-based delivery rates offered by Online Electrical from time to time are subject to change without notice and may be subject to minimum order values, delivery areas, product exclusions or campaign terms.
5. Oversized, Heavy or Long-Length Items
Certain electrical products may be oversized, fragile, heavy, hazardous to transport, or exceed standard courier dimensions. These may include, but are not limited to:
- Cable drums or long cable lengths
- Trunking, conduit, channels or strut
- Light fittings or industrial fittings with oversized packaging
- Distribution boards or larger electrical enclosures
- Palletised or bulk orders
- Items exceeding standard courier length limits
For these items:
- Additional delivery charges may apply
- Delivery may take longer than standard courier timelines
- Delivery may require a custom freight quote
- Delivery may be limited to certain areas only
If additional shipping charges apply after an order is placed, we will contact you before dispatch where reasonably possible.
6. Stock Availability and Split Shipments
All orders are subject to stock availability.
Where an item is out of stock, backordered, discontinued, or delayed by a supplier, we may:
- Contact you with an updated lead time
- Offer a suitable alternative where appropriate
- Partially fulfil the available portion of your order
- Hold the order until all items are available
- Cancel and refund the affected item or order where necessary
- We reserve the right to ship orders in more than one parcel where operationally necessary.
7. Delivery Address Accuracy
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that all delivery information provided at checkout is complete and accurate, including:
- Recipient name
- Street address
- Suburb
- City / town
- Postal code
- Contact number
- Company name where applicable
- Delivery instructions where relevant
Online Electrical will not be responsible for delays, failed deliveries, additional courier charges or losses resulting from incorrect, incomplete or inaccessible delivery information provided by the customer.
If an order is returned to us due to an incorrect address, failed delivery or refusal of delivery, we may charge an additional delivery fee before resending the order.
8. Delivery and Receipt of Goods
Please inspect your parcel and products as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
If the outer packaging appears damaged, tampered with, incomplete, or if goods appear to be missing, incorrect or visibly damaged, please:

Note the issue with the courier where possible

Take photographs of the parcel, packaging and affected item(s)

Notify us as soon as possible, ideally within 48 hours of delivery
Prompt reporting helps us investigate courier or packing issues more effectively.
9. Damaged, Incorrect or Missing Items
If you receive:

A damaged item

The wrong product
-
An incomplete order
-
A product that appears to have been damaged in transit

A description of the issue

Clear photographs of the item, packaging and shipping label where possible
We may request additional information in order to investigate the matter with the courier, supplier or warehouse team.
Where a claim is accepted, we may at our discretion and subject to applicable law:
- Replace the item
- Arrange collection
- Issue a refund
- Provide store credit
- Send the missing item or correct item
10. Failed Deliveries and Re-Delivery
If delivery cannot be completed because:
- No one is available to receive the parcel
- The address is incorrect or incomplete
- Access to the premises is restricted
- The recipient refuses delivery without prior arrangement
- The delivery location is unsafe or inaccessible
the courier may attempt re-delivery, return the parcel to depot, or return it to us.
Any re-delivery fee or additional courier charge resulting from a failed delivery may be for the customer’s account.
11. Collection Option (if offered)
Where collection is offered by arrangement, customers may collect orders from our premises once they have been notified that the order is ready.

A valid order number and proof of identity may be requested at collection.
12. Risk and Ownership
Risk in the goods passes to the customer upon delivery to the delivery address provided, or upon collection by the customer or their nominated representative, as applicable.
Ownership of goods remains subject to full payment having been received and cleared.
13. Returns and Return Shipping
If you wish to return a product, please refer to our Return & Refund Policy for full return eligibility and conditions.
Where a return is accepted for a reason other than a defective, incorrect or damaged item, the customer may be responsible for the return shipping cost.

Return Shipping Terms

You are responsible for your own return shipping costs unless the return is due to our error, an incorrect item supplied, or a product defect covered by applicable law.

Shipping charges are non-refundable unless required by law or otherwise approved by us.

If a refund is approved, the cost of return shipping may be deducted from the refund where applicable.

We recommend using a trackable courier service or shipping insurance for returns, especially for items valued over R500, as we cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
14. Defective Products and Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Shipping Policy limits any rights you may have under applicable South African consumer law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.
If a product is defective, unsafe, or fails to meet the standards required by law, you may have rights to repair, replacement or refund in accordance with the CPA and our Return & Refund Policy.
15. Delivery Delays Outside Our Control
Online Electrical will not be liable for delivery delays or failure to deliver caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:
- Load shedding or utility disruptions
- Strikes, riots, protests or civil unrest
- Floods, storms or other severe weather
- Supplier failures or stock shortages
- Courier network disruptions
- Road closures or transport disruptions
- Acts of God or force majeure events
In such cases, we will do our best to keep you informed and fulfil the order as soon as reasonably possible.
